Product Description

A Double Compression Cable Gland is a high-security electrical fitting designed specifically for armoured cables (such as SWA - Steel Wire Armour). Unlike a single compression gland which only grips the outer sheath, a double compression gland provides two distinct levels of sealing and mechanical retention.

The "Double" Mechanism

1. Inner Compression: The first seal compresses against the inner bedding (the layer under the armour). This creates a moisture-proof and gas-tight barrier, protecting the core conductors and preventing "wicking" of liquids or gases through the cable.

2. Outer Compression: The second seal compresses against the outer sheath. This provides the primary environmental protection (IP66/IP67/IP68) against rain, dust, and corrosive elements.

Key Components & Features

• Armour Clamping Ring: A specialized cone and ring system sits between the two seals. It "bites" onto the steel or aluminum wires of the cable armour, providing 360 electrical continuity (earthing) and massive mechanical pull-out resistance.

• Materials: Most commonly manufactured from Nickel-Plated Brass or Stainless Steel 316L for maximum durability in industrial environments.

• Weatherproof & Flameproof: Many double compression glands are dual-certified (Ex d and Ex e), meaning they are safe for use in explosive atmospheres and hazardous zones.
