• Standard Compression Angle Cock: These use a multi-turn handle and a rubber washer to stop the flow. They are cost-effective and easy to repair by simply replacing the washer.

• Quarter-Turn Ball Valve: Using a ceramic disc or ball mechanism, these are highly durable and allow for a full shut-off with just a 90-degree turn of the handle. They are less prone to leaking over time.

• Heavy-Duty Industrial Valves: Often made from high-grade forged brass (like CW617N), these are designed for higher pressure ratings and more frequent operation in commercial settings.

Selection Criteria

1. Thread Type: Ensure you match the thread standard of your piping (NPT for North American standards or BSP for international/Indian standards).

2. Wall Flange: For a clean installation against a wall, look for models that include a brass flange to cover the pipe entry point.

3. Handle Material: While the body is brass, verify if the handle is also solid brass or an alloy (like Zinc/Zamak). Solid brass handles offer superior longevity in humid environments.

Recommended Maintenance

To prevent "seizing" due to mineral buildup (calcium/limescale), it is recommended to fully close and open the valve once every 6 months, especially in hard water areas.
