Product Description

Brass Split AC Valves (commonly referred to as Service Valves) are critical components in mini-split air conditioning systems. They are located on the outdoor condensing unit and serve as the connection point between the indoor evaporator and the outdoor compressor via copper refrigerant lines.

1. Function and Purpose

The primary role of these valves is to control the flow of refrigerant during installation, maintenance, and repair.

• Isolation: They allow a technician to "pump down" or trap the refrigerant inside the outdoor unit while disconnecting the indoor unit.

• Charging & Testing: They feature a service port (typically a 1/4" SAE flare) for connecting gauges to check system pressure or add refrigerant.

• Sealing: Once the system is running, the valve stems are turned to the "open" position, and heavy-duty brass caps provide a secondary leak-proof seal.

• Key Technical Specifications

  • Pressure Rating: Designed to handle modern high-pressure refrigerants like R-410A or R-32, often rated for working pressures up to 600+ PSI.

  • Connection Sizes:

    • Liquid Line: Usually 1/4" or 3/8".

    • Suction Line: Usually 3/8", 1/2", or 5/8" depending on the BTU capacity of the AC.

  • Temperature Range: Engineered to operate from -30C to 120C to handle both heating (heat pump) and cooling cycles.
