Standard Size & Technical Data

Most industrial wood anchors are manufactured from Free Cutting Brass (IS 319 / BS 2874) to ensure clean internal threading.

• Metric Sizes: M4, M5, M6, M8, M10, M12, and M16.

• Imperial Sizes: 1/8", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", and 1/2" (available in BSW, UNC, and UNF).

• Standard Lengths: Generally ranges from 15mm to 35mm depending on the thread diameter.

• Plating Options: Natural Brass (standard), Nickel-Plated (for high-end aesthetics), or Tin-Plated.

Key Features for Industrial Use

• Corrosion Resistance: Unlike steel inserts, brass will not react with wood tannins or moisture, making them ideal for outdoor or marine furniture.

• Embossed Grip: The outer surface is typically knurled or embossed to provide extra friction against the wood grain.

• Conical Expansion: The internal conical shape ensures that all four segments of the anchor expand equally as the bolt is tightened, providing 360-degree pressure.

Installation Best Practices

1. Pilot Hole: Drill a hole matching the external diameter of the anchor.

2. Seating: For expansion-style anchors, hammer the unit until it is flush with the wood surface. For threaded inserts, use a hex key or specialized drive tool.

3. Tension: As the bolt is screwed in, the base of the anchor expands. Avoid over-tightening in softwoods (like Pine) to prevent splitting the grain.
